What is it?
The Widgets area allows ASAs or Admins to control the content of specific areas of your website. NOTE: Widgets must be set up by the MC Professional Design Team. If you have questions about adding or editing a widget, contact the Help Team.
We don't recommend copying, then pasting, content (e.g. text, images, graphics etc.) from outside sources into any WYSIWYG editor found in MC Professional. If you do, this may bring incompatible code into your website or email client. Content from outside sources may not display as intended.
How to Access
Widgets can be accessed and edited by navigating to Website > Widgets.
Advanced Website Designs, Widgets and other Dynamic Elements
How it Works
In general, design elements such as menus, widgets, and other dynamic elements which are included in the design will appear based on the menu item(s) to which they are assigned. For example, you may have an HTML widget which is only assigned to appear on the Community menu item. When a member logs in, if his or her group landing page is set to be the Community menu item, the widget will appear on the right side of the page. The presence of the widget will be determined by the menu item(s) to which it is assigned. The MemberClicks help or design teams can set the element to appear on the menu items desired.
NOTE: Widgets and other advanced elements can only be assigned to menu items, they cannot be assigned to articles.
Let's take a closer look at the example above starting with the site Home page:
Note that the Home menu item is set to be the default for the entire website and that it displays widgets in the content area (called The Benefits of Membership and What is Lorem Ipsum?) as well as a right bar.
When you visit the Member Landing Page (an interior page of the site) in addition to displaying a single article in the main body of the page, Quick Links and Announcements appear on the right side because that menu and widget have been set to display on the Member Landing Page menu item.
Helpful Hints
Widgets such as HTML widgets (ex. Announcements), Upcoming Events, and Quick Links are great ways to engage members and other site visitors. They can also be big time savers which reduce the need to create the same content on multiple pages.
Once a widget has been created by the MC Professional Design Team, it can be assigned to display on all menu items or ONLY on select menu items. If your widget is set to display on select ONLY menu items, the Help Team will be happy to assign it to display on more menu items or remove it from existing menu items as needed.
The Latest News List widget displays the most recent published and updated articles on your website in a clickable list. This is determined by the published or updated date in your admin dashboard. This date can be updated manually.
