Adding a button to an article
You can convert text into a clickable call-to-action button within an article. Buttons are a great way to guide visitors to:
- Another page on your website
- A specific section within a page (using an anchor link)
- An external website
- An email application launcher
Design note: Button colors and sizes are determined by your site’s default stylesheet. Adjusting these style properties requires custom code. If you need help modifying your button designs, please contact our Support Team.
To add a button
-
Step 1: Open your article
Go to Website > Articles. Click New in the top right corner of the screen to create a new article, or click on an existing article from your list to edit it. -
Step 2: Create your hyperlink
In the article editor, type out the text you want to appear inside your button, highlight it with your mouse, and click the Insert/Edit Link icon. -
Step 3: Add your destination path
In the Link URL field, enter where you want the button to point, then click Update:
- To link to a webpage: Paste the full web address or internal page path.
- To link to an email address: Type the email address. A pop-up will ask if you want to add the "mailto:" prefix. Choose Yes so that clicking the button automatically opens the visitor's email application with the recipient field pre-filled.
- To link to a specific section: Enter your anchored URL. (For step-by-step instructions, see our guide on creating and linking to an anchor.)
-
Step 4: Format the text as a button
Keep the link text highlighted, click the formatting dropdown (which defaults to Paragraph), and select Heading 6. (Note: The Heading 6 style automatically converts standard text links into your system’s styled button component on the live website.) -
Step 5: Save your changes
Click Save in the top right corner of the screen. Your text link will now display as a fully styled button on your live site page.
