Built-in attributes are the predefined database fields assigned to every member: name, contact name, email address, address, phone number, and organization. This article covers how to configure each one, and how to make an attribute required.

Configuring built-in attributes
Go to Database > Attributes to see every built-in attribute in your database.
Toggle Required to ON to make an attribute mandatory. Members then have to complete that field when they edit their profile.
Note: The Required toggle does not apply to forms. To make a built-in attribute required on a form, set it as required in the Form Builder.
Select Edit Settings next to an attribute to customize it further.
Name
The Name attribute holds a member's first and last name. It can also include a middle name, middle initial, prefix, or suffix.
To add prefixes and suffixes:
- Toggle on Prefix, Suffix, or both.
- Enter a value in the New Prefix or New Suffix field.
- Select ADD.
- Drag entries up or down to reorder the list.
- Select SAVE.
To remove an entry, select DELETE in the Actions column. To include middle names or initials, toggle on Middle.
Contact Name
The Contact Name attribute populates automatically with the member's full name. Edit it in the member's profile to use a nickname or an alias instead.
Select Edit Settings next to Contact Name to include the prefix, middle name, and suffix you set up under Name. Toggle each one on to include it.
Note: Contact Name has no Required toggle. The system generates a contact name for every profile automatically.
Email Address
The Email Address attribute holds a member's email addresses. Create up to 5 custom labels, such as work email or home email. Each label applies to one address only.
The first label in your list becomes the primary email address. A member can choose a different primary address in their profile, and an administrator can do the same by editing the profile.
To manage labels:
- Select Edit Settings next to Email Address.
- Select Add an Email Label.
- Select ADD.
- Drag labels up or down to reorder them.
- Select SAVE.
To remove a label, select DELETE in the Actions column.
Caution: Labels in use by a member profile cannot be deleted. Renaming an existing label changes that label for every member using it.
Address
The Address attribute holds a member's physical address. Create up to 5 custom labels. The first label in the list becomes the member's primary address, and both members and administrators can select a different primary address in the profile.
Configure the address to include U.S. states or Canadian provinces, displayed as either the full name or the abbreviation.
Phone Number
The Phone Number attribute holds a member's phone numbers. Create up to 5 custom phone labels. Every phone number needs a label, and each label applies to one number only.
The first label in the list becomes the primary phone number. Members and administrators can select a different primary number in the profile.
Organization
The Organization attribute holds the organization name associated with the profile. It offers no further customization, but it can be set as a required field.
To add fields beyond the built-in set, see Custom attributes.
