Organizations let you highlight information about an organization, advertise to members, and show who the organization’s employees are in the community. An organization can represent a parent constituent, a company, or an event sponsor or exhibitor.

About organizations
Organization profiles encourage discussion and engagement with an organization and its members on the profile newsfeed. They also show community members who belong to the organization.
Organization owners and Organization Managers have additional actions in the Organization List, the Member List, and the Organization Information section. For more information, see CommUnity | Organization Admin.
Organization List
The Organization List shows organizations that are approved and published, sorted alphabetically by name by default. Search by organization name and description with the search bar, or filter the list by Favorites or by custom organization criteria.
To add an organization to your Favorites, select its star icon. Filter the list by Favorites to find your favorite organizations again. Select Explore to view the Organization Profile.
Select an organization’s URL to open its corporate website in a new browser tab. Select a social media icon to open the organization’s page on that network.
An organization appears in the Organization List only after an Organization Manager publishes and approves it.
Organization Profile
An organization’s profile is visible only after an admin publishes and approves the organization. The Organization Profile has these sections:
- Organization Member List
- Organization Information
- Organization Newsfeed
- Join Organization
- Twitter Feed (if applicable)
Organization Member List
The Member List shows the community members who belong to the selected organization. The organization’s owner appears first, followed by the other members in alphabetical order.
Point to a member’s name to view additional member info, request the member as a friend, or send the member an in-community message. Select the member’s name to view their community profile.
To cancel a pending friend request, select the friend icon, then select Cancel request.
Organization Information
The Organization Information section has an About section and a Contact section. Depending on the organization’s setup, a third custom section can show additional information.
The About section shows details such as the organization name, description, founding date, and website URL. Organizations choose which information to show. Select the website URL to open the company website in a new browser tab.
The Contact section shows contact details such as phone number, address, and social media links. Select a social media link to open it in a new browser tab.
Organization Newsfeed
Posts you create in the organization newsfeed appear to the entire community on the sitewide newsfeed and in the organization’s newsfeed. Use posts to ask questions and share content and ideas with the organization without creating a full forum post.
Posts don’t appear on either newsfeed while the organization is unapproved or unpublished. They appear once the organization is published and approved.
The organization newsfeed shows only organization posts. Posts that organization members make elsewhere in the community don’t appear in it.
Join Organization
Community members can request to join an organization. Select Join Organization on the organization profile. The button then shows a status of Pending. Organization owners and Organization Managers see the member listed as Pending first in the Organization Member List.
Organization owners and Organization Managers can review, approve, or deny organization members. For more information, see CommUnity | Organization Admin.
Twitter Feed
If the organization has a Twitter URL in its Contact information, the Twitter feed appears on the organization profile automatically. Select the Twitter handle or View on Twitter to open the organization’s Twitter profile. Select a hashtag or URL in a post to open it in a new tab.
