Job Board: Linking up the Job Board

After you finish setting up your job board, link it up on your website. You have 2 options. Adding an article with information about the job board, and linking to it from there, is the recommended option.

Adding an article with job board information

This option is recommended. It lets you present the job board in personalized language that highlights why posters should pay to post a job on your board. Use a title such as Job Board, Jobs, Career Center, or Careers. The title appears in the browser tab when the article is viewed, and the alias generates automatically.

  1. Go to Website > Articles and select New, the plus sign.

  2. Enter a title in the Title field.

  3. Add text, links, and images to the article body that describe the job board and why employers should pay to post there.
  4. Insert a link to the job board and style it as a Heading 6 to create a button.

  5. Set permissions for the article using the Group Access checkboxes.

  6. Select Save.
  7. Add a menu item that links to the new article so it’s available on your website. For steps, see Menu items.
Tip: To start from sample HTML, download a text file with HTML code. Select the HTML icon in the editor toolbar to paste in the code.

Adding a menu item that links directly to the board

Add the menu item to the Main Menu or Quick Links. Use a title such as Job Board, Jobs, Career Center, or Careers. The title is the text that shows in the menu bar on your site, and the alias generates automatically.

  1. Go to Website > Menu Items and select the name of the menu that you want to add the item to.
  2. Select New.

  3. Select Other, then select External Link.

  4. Enter a title in the Title field.

  5. In the Link field, paste the URL for your new job board.

  6. Select the menu item’s Parent Item.

  7. Set On Click, Open in to New Window with Browser Navigation.

  8. Use the Group Access permissions to assign each group that should see this item in the menu bar.

  9. Select Save.
Note: Include the full link, including https://.

If you select Top as the parent item, the new menu item appears as a new tab in your menu bar. If you select an existing menu item, the new item drops down or flies out as a sub-navigation item.

Tip: To drive more traffic to your job board, which means more revenue, add it as a Top menu item.

Because this is an External Link menu item, setting On Click, Open in to New Window with Browser Navigation opens the job board in a new tab and keeps your website open.
