From the Site Building Tools section of the Admin Panel, click Forums Manager. The Forums Manager screen enables the creation of discussion forum categories and sub-categories.
To create a new forum category, click Create New Category.
Enter the category name and description.
Leave ‘Restrict Access To Member Segments’ set to No to allow everyone to see this forum category.
Set ‘Restrict Access To Member Segments’ to Yes to limit who can view this forum category. Select the member segment(s) you want to give access.
Optionally, select a Forum Type.
- The Voting forum type allows members to up vote an idea and allows administrators with Forums Manager role to mark a submitted idea with a status, such as Being Considered, Implemented, Scheduled etc.
- The Q&A forum type allows administrators or the forum creator to mark a submitted question as Under Review or Answered and the ability to mark a response as the Answer to the question.
Upload a category image and category banner. The banner will display at the top when viewing that specific forum category.
- Category image recommended size is 1000x666.
- Banner image recommended size is 2000x200.
From the Forum Topic View Settings section, select whether you want to enable view tracking. This shows who has viewed a post and how many views.
Click Add Sub under Actions to add a subcategory to an existing category.
Reorder forum categories via drag and drop on the Forums Manager main page.
