Overview
Individual members are not linked to any other profile in your database. These member types contain the built-in attributes (name, email, address, phone) and any other custom attributes you assign. Each member is responsible for paying their own dues, updating their own profile, and registering for events themself. This article describes how to add individual member types to your MC Professional account.
To add an individual member type
Navigate to Database > Member Types, then click ADD AN INDIVIDUAL MEMBER TYPE.
On the following screen, enter a name, select a pricing structure, and decide if you'd like to copy another group's permissions (if you don't want to copy a group's permissions, do not make a selection in the dropdown).
Then, you can edit the member type's General Settings. First, decide if you want to Require approval for new members. If enabled, new members will enter pending status until they are manually changed to active status by an admin.
To assign custom attributes
Click Assign Custom Attributes to select the custom attributes that you want to include for this member type, then click SAVE.
To set a landing page
Click the SET LANDING PAGE button.
Members of this type will land on the specified page when they log in through your website. By default this is set to /member-landing-page. On the left hand side toolbar, select which area of your website you want to link to. Then, select an article from the list. The Link Text and Link URL fields below will auto-populate with the page's information.
In the Page Target drop-down menu, you can select wether or not you want your landing page to open on the Same Page or a New Page. Click the INSERT THIS LINK button when you're finished.
You cannot set an external website as your member landing page.
To add renewal settings
Your new member type's Renewal Payment, and Membership & Expiration Settings pull from your Default Member Type Settings. If this member type requires different settings, you need to update your default settings before creating your new member type.
Under Renewal Settings, you can set Auto Renewals to off, required, or optional (before enabling this option, ensure your payment processor is configured to support auto-renewals).
Click Define Renewal Paths to determine whether members of this type have the ability to change to a different member type during renewal.
You can toggle on or off the ability for your members to Renew from Member Profile. If enabled, a dropdown menu with two options will appear, allowing your members to either generate an invoice and renew in their profile, or re-direct
them to a URL. With the latter option, you can redirect them to your renewal form.
At the bottom of the screen, you can configure your pricing settings.
To configure pricing settings
For Period of Time based Memberships, click Add a Duration to include multi-year, or lifetime membership options on your application/renewal form. These options will also be available if your members renew through their profile.
By default, Date-Based Memberships automatically account for one full year. You can enter the full price of membership for a full year, or you can prorate membership fees based on when a member joins. You can also set which date membership begins to rollover into the next year.
Multi Year Pricing can be used with Date-Based Memberships. The prices listed in the multi-year pricing section are for subsequent years. Lifetime memberships can also be created here, and will ignore the base price of the membership.
Multi-year pricing is not available while auto-renew is enabled.
In the Advanced Pricing Settings section you can add additional pricing rules, added onto the base price of membership. These rules are driven by the values of the selected attributes. For individual member types, you can set pricing rules after checking off the Enable Advanced Pricing box.
Attributes that are included in your advanced pricing rule(s) need to be manually added to your membership application and renewal from.
