Security update
To ensure your organization can continue processing payments securely, you must update your payment processor settings in MC Professional before November 30, 2026.
Payroc and NMI are phasing out username and password authentication for API connections. Moving forward, all integrations must use a Security Key.
What’s changing?
- Existing gateways: If you’re currently connected to Payroc/NMI using a username and password, your connection will remain active until November 30, 2026. After this date, the username and password option will be removed and you’ll need to connect using a Security Key issued by Payroc/NMI.
- Updating your settings: If you need to update your payment processor settings before the deadline, the system will require you to enter a Security Key before saving.
- New gateways: If you are setting up a Payroc/NMI connection for the first time, you must authenticate using a Security Key. The username and password fields will not be available.
- Stored payment tokens: Updating your credentials to a Security Key will not remove or impact any of your stored payment tokens.
Step 1: Generate your Payroc/NMI Security Key
Before updating anything in MC Professional, you need to get your unique Security Key from your Payroc portal.
- Log into your Payroc/NMI Merchant Portal.
- Go to Home > Settings > Security Keys.
- Follow the prompts to generate a new API Security Key.
- Copy the key to your clipboard.
For detailed, step-by-step guidance from the provider, see NMI's Migration Documentation.
Step 2: Update your settings in MC Professional
Once you have your key, update your existing payment processor settings to secure your connection. You do not need to create a new payment processor configuration.
- Log into MC Professional.
- Go to Financial > Invoices > Payment Processors.
- Hover your cursor over the Payroc/NMI configuration that needs updating, then select EDIT.
- Paste your new key into the Security Key field.
- Save your changes.
FAQs
What happens if I miss the November 30 deadline?
Your payment integration will stop working. Your members will not be able to pay dues, register for events, or pay invoices online until you generate a Security Key and add it to MC Professional.
Will this affect my members' saved credit cards or recurring payments?
No. Updating your authentication method to a Security Key simply secures the connection between MC Professional and Payroc. It does not delete or alter any stored tokens or recurring billing schedules.
I am a brand new client. Do I need to do this?
If you are setting up a Payroc/NMI gateway for the first time, username and password authentication is no longer an option. You will automatically use this method during your initial setup.
