Switching between period of time and date-based expiration settings
Once a member type is created, you cannot edit its expiration settings. To change a member type's expiration settings, a new member type needs to be created, and your members moved into it.
First, edit your default member type settings. Navigate to Database > Member Types.
Click EDIT DEFAULT SETTINGS at the top of the page.
Under Membership & Expiration Settings select either Expiration is Based on Date, or, Period of Time from the dropdown menu.
Navigate back to Database > Member Types and create your new member type using either the ADD AN INDIVIDUAL MEMBER TYPE or ADD AN ORGANIZATION MEMBER TYPE button.
On the next screen, you can copy the original group's permissions using the Copy a Group's Permissions dropdown menu.
See either our adding an individual or organization member type article to setup the rest of your member type settings.
Once your new member type is setup, navigate to your Profile List using the button in the top right of your dashboard.
Conduct an advanced search for all members in the original member type using the criteria Member Type > Is > select the member type.
Run two searches. One for all Active, Graced, Lapsed, Pending, and Deceased members. Then, with these criteria still checked off, another search for Deleted profiles only.
After each search, tag all of the members in your list.
In the bottom right, click Actions, then Change Member Type in the dropdown menu.
On the following screen, change the tagged members to your newly created member type using the Member Types dropdown menu.
If all members have been removed from this member type, you can navigate back to Database > Member Types and delete the original member type.
