The Committees area gives the committees you configure a private space to interact by sharing messages and files. Each committee member can access their committees under the My Features tab of their member profile.
Adding a new committee
- Go to Community > Committees.
- Select Add a New Committee.
- Configure the committee:
- Committee Name: The name of the committee.
- Active: Marks the committee as active.
- Committee Type: Select a previously defined committee type, or leave it blank.
- Description: Displays in a member's profile in their committee area. This is a good place to define the committee's objective or goal.
- Add committee positions by selecting Manage Committee Positions. Add, edit, and delete the positions you define, create as many as you need, and assign them to specific members. Toggle Committee Admin on if the position is a committee admin—users assigned an admin position can remove users from the committee.
Tip: To view all members assigned to a committee position, select the number in the Members Assigned column to view them in the profile list. Because one member may hold a position multiple times, the number in this column can be higher than the number of profiles in the list view—the column counts each position held, while the list shows each profile once.
- Add members to the committee: point to any committee, then select Add Members from Profile List. In the profile list, search for and tag anyone you want to add, then use the Actions dropdown menu. Assign positions and terms as you add the tagged profiles—you can make further edits from the committee roster list.
From the committee roster list, delete members from the committee, edit positions, and edit start and end terms.
Tracking participation on profiles
All committee participation—current members, past members, and members whose terms haven't started—is tracked in the admin view of every member profile. To see committee history, go to any profile and select the Committees tab.
Member view
Once a member is added to a committee, the committee appears under My Profile > My Features > Committees.
Members see all the committees they belong to, with the ability to select Edit Notifications. If notifications are toggled on, the member can opt in to email notifications about new messages, new comments, and new files uploaded to the committee.
Within the committee, members add a message by selecting Add a Committee Message.
Messages can have multiple threads. Rather than creating a new message each time, members select the title of an existing message to add comments.
Under the Members tab, committee members view other members of the committee, including their positions. Each member's name links directly to their profile.
On the Files tab, members upload files (under 10 MB) from their computers to share with the committee. Other committee members can download a file, edit it as needed, and re-upload it to the Files area.
