What is the Front Page Manager?
The Front Page tab controls exactly which articles appear on the home page of your website and determines the sequence in which they are displayed.
Note: This screen is only relevant to your organization if your home page menu item is set up to use a "Front Page Blog Layout" or a "Front Page List Layout."
To access these settings, go to Website > Front Page.
Using the Front Page Manager
The Front Page Manager displays all articles currently pinned to your home page. You can use the following controls to track, search, and sort the content:
Finding and filtering articles
- Filter text search: Enter a full word, partial word, or unique ID number into the search bar on the left and click Go to find an item.
- Drop-down filters: Use the menus on the top right to limit the list by a specific Category, Author, or published state (Published or Unpublished). You can combine these filters to narrow down large lists.
- Column sorting: Click any text column header to sort the entire list by that specific value.
Understanding the list columns
- #: A standard index number automatically assigned by the system for easy reference.
- Checkbox: Select this box to target one or more articles for toolbar actions like publishing or removal. Checking the header checkbox selects every item on the page.
- Title: The name of the article. Click the title to open the item for direct editing.
- Published: Displays the current active status of the article.
- Order: Dictates the sequence of the articles on your home page. If your list is sorted by this column, you can change the order by clicking the up and down arrows or by typing numbers into the fields and clicking the "Save Order" floppy disk icon in the header. Note: For the home page to respect these manual numbers, your home page Menu Item parameters must be set to Category Order: "No. Order by Primary Order Only" and Primary Order: "Default". If those parameters are set to overrides like "Oldest First" or "Alphabetical", this column will be ignored.
- ID: A unique identification number assigned automatically for internal system tracking. It cannot be modified.
- Category: The organizational category the article belongs to. Click the category name to edit it.
- Author: The name of the administrator who created the article.
- Display #: Use this dropdown at the bottom to choose how many articles display on a single backend page. Use the navigation buttons (Start, Prev, Next, End) to click through pages if your list is long.
Using the toolbar
Select the checkboxes next to your chosen articles, then click a button in the top-right toolbar to update your homepage content:
- Publish / Unpublish: Instantly activates or deactivates the selected articles on the website.
- Archive: Changes the selected articles to an archived status. They are safely saved in your database and can be viewed via an "Archive Layout" menu item, but they cannot be published to regular pages while archived.
- Remove: Deactivates the selected articles from the home page layout. Note: This button does not delete the article from your system; it only unpins it from the home page. The article remains fully safe and available within its original category folder and on any other assigned sub-pages.
