Inserting links into articles, events, and messages
All content editors across the MC Professional platform function the same way. Once you know how to insert a link in one area—such as an article—you can apply those exact same steps to event descriptions, contact center messages, and custom pages.
Getting started
Go to the content you want to edit. For example, go to Website > Articles and select an existing article, or click the New icon to create a fresh one.
Click into the text area where you want the link to appear.
Type out the descriptive phrase you want visitors to click on (for example: "Register for the event"), then use your mouse to highlight those specific words.
Method 1: Linking to an internal MC Professional item
Use this method if you want to link to an item already hosted inside your platform, such as another article, a system form, or a document.
- With your text still highlighted, click the Site Links button located in the lower-left corner of the content editor.
- A pop-up window will appear showing all available content areas within the platform. Click on the tab that matches the item you want to link to:
- Articles: Links directly to another published article.
- Forms: Links directly to an active registration or membership form.
- Menu Item: Links directly to an existing navigation menu destination.
- Files: Links directly to a hosted document (PDF, image, etc.).
- If you selected the Files tab, you must upload your document before you can link to it. Click the Upload button inside the pop-up, choose your destination folder in the Media Manager, and upload your file. Once uploaded, select it from the list.
- Review the Link Text box at the bottom of the window. If you highlighted text before opening the tool, it will appear here automatically. Click Insert to place the link.
Method 2: Linking to an external website
Use this method if you are linking to an outside webpage or asset that is not stored within your MC Professional platform.
- Highlight your descriptive text, then click the Insert/Edit Link icon (resembling a chain link) on the top toolbar of the editor.
- Paste the full web address into the LinkURL box.(Note: You must include the full protocol. If you forget to type http:// or https://, the system will ask if you want it added automatically. Choose Yes to ensure the link works.)
- Click the green Insert button to add the active link to your page.
