If the DELETE button is greyed out on Database > Member Types or Database > Groups, profiles in your database are still connected to it. Work through the checks below until the button becomes active.
On this page
Deleted profiles connected to the member type
Deleted profiles can remain connected to a member type or group. To find and reassign them:
- Go to your Profile List.
- Run an advanced search with the criteria Member Type > Is > [member type], with Deleted profiles only selected.
- For each member in the results, select View Profile, then change their member type to a different one.
Profiles in a connected group
A profile may be in the group tied to the member type you want to delete, even if their member type is already different. To find and remove them:
- Go to your Profile List.
- Run an advanced search with the criteria Group > Is > [group tied to the member type]. Run this search separately for active and deleted profiles.
- For each member in the results, select View Profile, then deselect the group from their profile.
Profiles connected through an API client
If DELETE is still greyed out after the checks above, an API client may still be connected to the member type or group.
- Go to Settings > Account Settings, then select API Management in the top-right corner.
- Hover over the API client connected to the member type, then select EDIT.
- Under Groups, deselect the group tied to the member type from the dropdown.
- For organization member types, deselect both the group attached to the organization profile and the group attached to any linked profiles.
Go back to Database > Member Types or Database > Groups to confirm that the DELETE button is active.
