Common causes of auto-renew payment failure
Experiencing the 'Payment declined: The processor is not set up for recurring payments' error during auto-renewal? This article covers the top reasons why this happens and how you can resolve it
Learn more about what auto-renew payments are.
1. Auto-renew payments often fail due to improperly configured member type settings. In the member type's settings, auto-renew must be set to optional or required.
2. Auto-renew must be set up with your payment processor (Payroc, Moolah, Authorize.net). Credit card information is stored in your payment processor, not MC Professional. Reach out to your payment processor directly to ensure that this setting is enabled in your account.
3. Each merchant account must have a "customer vault" enabled. Check with your payment processor to confirm this setting is active.
4. Payment processing with MC Professional requires an API integration. The API username linked to MC Pro has access to the customer vault. If the payment processor isn't configured to allow the API username to access the vault, auto-payments fail. Contact your payment processor directly to confirm that the API is permissioned correctly.
