Anchor links let visitors jump to a specific section of a webpage or email when they select a link.
Note: Anchor names are case-sensitive and cannot contain spaces. Anchors also do not work reliably in some email clients — Gmail in particular.
Creating an anchor link
Creating an anchor link is a two-part process: first you place the anchor at the destination, then you create the link that jumps to it.
Part 1: Place the anchor
- Open your content
Open an existing article or contact center message for editing, or create a new one. - Position your cursor
Place your cursor next to the text where you want visitors to land when they select the link. - Insert the anchor
Select the Anchor icon, enter an anchor name, then select Insert. An anchor symbol appears next to the destination text.
Part 2: Create the link
- Highlight your link text
Scroll to the text you want visitors to select, and highlight it. - Open the link tool
Select the Insert/Edit Link icon. - Select your anchor and insert
In the Anchors dropdown, select your anchor. The Link URL field populates automatically with#anchorname. Select Insert.
Visitors who select the link will jump directly to the anchored section of the page.
