The Member Engagement report calculates a weighted engagement score from three key areas of engagement in your data: event registration and attendance, login activity, and email open rates. You control how heavily each metric counts toward the overall score, then run the report to calculate each member's score.
Running the report
Navigate to Reporting > Engagement. If you've never run the report, no results display; otherwise you see results from the previous calculation.
To set how much each activity is weighed, select Configure Activity. Drag the pointer on each activity type to the percentage you want. If the total doesn't equal 100%, the percentage shows in red and you can't save the configuration.
Once you run the report, the calculated scores persist—even after you log out and back in—until you explicitly recalculate them.
Filtering and exporting results
When the report finishes, you see scores for all profiles in your database. To filter the results by member type or by any saved search from the Profile List, use the dropdowns at the top of the result grid. The scores don't recalculate when you filter—the list simply narrows—and you can select Export to CSV to download the filtered, calculated results in Excel.
After you run the report at least once, each profile's latest score also appears in the Engagement Metrics tab. For details, see Profile engagement metrics.
How scores are calculated
To create meaningful differentiation between scores and to measure engagement relative to your typical member, the report uses the following criteria:
- Event registration score: Each profile scores from 0 to 1. A 0 means no events attended. Every other profile's score reflects its percentile ranking among all profiles that attended at least one event, based on how many events they attended compared to others.
- Login activity score: Each profile scores from 0 to 1. A 0 means no logins recorded. Every other profile's score reflects its percentile ranking among all profiles that logged in at least once.
- Email open rate score: Each profile scores from 0 to 1. A 0 means no emails opened. Every other profile's score reflects its percentile ranking among all profiles that opened at least one email.
- Total score: Your configuration percentages apply here. Each weight multiplies its matching score. For example, with a 60% events, 20% logins, 20% email opens configuration, the total score = (event score × 0.6) + (login score × 0.2) + (email score × 0.2), and that total is multiplied by 100 for the overall profile score.
Each month within the selected date range runs this calculation, and the scores are averaged over the full date range for the final calculated score in each column. For the exact percentile formulas, see Engagement score formula.
