Hi there - almost exactly 2 years ago (before we shifted to the new platform) I posted a query asking if/when a digest option would be available, and Kinsey quickly responded at the time that it was in the product roadmap. I don't see anything elist related in the current version of the roadmap so I thought I'd reiterate my plea for a digest/daily summary option. When we ask our members why they don't subscribe or why they unsubscribe, email volume and inability to see messages in a digest format is number one complaint. Please consider this again. Many thanks.

Is there a digest option for elists in the "new product"? The "classic" platform still does not have one, and a digest option would be a motivation to upgrade.

Hi Joyce - We don't have an article specifically for that, but I'm happy to explain it!

When a member sends a message to an e-list that's set to require moderation, the moderator(s) will receive an email that says something like:
"A new message has been sent to the E-list: E-LIST NAME

As a moderator of this E-list, you will need to approve this message before it will be sent to the members of the E-list."

To approve the message, the moderator should log in to your MemberClicks site and navigate to the e-list. While viewing the Messages tab for the e-list, the moderator(s) will see pending messages.

To approve the message, the moderator should click on its name. From there, the Approve button displays in green, alongside a Delete button if needed.

That's correct! No need to move their Group around, unless you wanted to. (:

    Hey Kimberly!

Testing this out on my end, links do work when sent from an email account. If you hit "reply", your response will function based on your E-List's set-up (be that Reply to Sender, or Entire List). I hope that helps clarify!

Hello Emmi! If you haven't already (and I'm sure you have!), please submit that feedback here. I haven't heard any news in regard to a digest feature, but the feedback will go directly to our Product Managers. The more we hear from folks like you, the better tuned in we are to you and your members' needs!

Hi Emmi - There isn't a digest option available for e-lists in the new system yet. It is feedback we've received from several customers, so it is on our product roadmap. If it helps, the community features in the new system work almost identically to those in Classic at this time.

Is there a way to export an e-list? Thanks!

Hey there Carolyn! Members can subscribe to any E-List they have permission to when they login and go to their Profile. Underneath the "My Features" tab is where they'll find E-Lists, and be able to subscribe as they so choose. While you cannot link directly to "My Features" or "E-Lists", you can provide links to "My Profile" so they can get there. I hope that helps!

Hi Jean - Your question is a little out of my wheel house, so I've created a Help Ticket for you so the Help Team can take a look at the specifics and follow up. Please expect to hear back soon!

Hey Ryan! If I am a member who is subscribed to the E-List, and I Lapse, I will remain subscribed to the E-List. This is so that when I pay my renewal and move back to Active, I won't need to be resubscribed.

That said, even though I am technically subscribed, the Lapsed status prevents me from sending and receiving to the E-List, essentially treating me like an unsubscribed user. We're just eliminating the need for the user or for an admin to resubscribe the member once they're no longer Lapsed.

Hello Ryan! That is correct; E-List messages cannot be deleted. For concerns about an inappropriate e-mail, I would suggest using the Moderation function so that messages are approved before going out.

Hey Melvin! The "Reply to Message" will follow the E-List configuration. If replies are set to go to the entire list, it will do so. If it's set to go to the poster, it will do that.

That said, it is also worth noting that if the moderator replies without approving the message, they will see their own response in the E-List messages, but it will not post to the E-list for anyone else until they approve the original message.

This reply will still send, however, so it may be a confusing experience to respond without approving first. I hope that helps clarify!

Emmi, I'm not with MC, just another user. There is NOT a digest option in any form in the new product ( yet? I have no idea if anything's in the works).

It is possible to send a message to an e-list from an email account, correct?  Is it then possible to send working links to an e-list from an email account?  If a message is sent from an email account, is the reply to default still in effect or do members have the option of replying to the entire list or just the sender?

HI Kinsey, is there any ability to create an import option to assign members to e-lists? If not, is that something that will be available in the future?  It was so nice to be able to mass enter the attributes for members when uploading them, but then I had to go through and manually add members one by one into the e-lists.  It seems like that technology is within the system for the attributes and it would be nice (and decrease workload for the ASAs!) if that import option were available for e-lists as well.  Thanks.

I am looking for an option for members to subscribe themselves to an E-list, but I'm not seeing that in the setup anywhere. We would like to have an option for a subset of our membership to be able to self-subscribe. Is there an E-list 'landing page' for members where they can see directions for how to subscribe or for us to link to as a menu item?

I posted a test message a few minutes ago to an e-list that only admin was subscribed to.  I want to add another group of members to the e-list.  Will they also get the test message that was already posted?

If a person's member type changes so they are no longer eligible to belong to an E-list, does it automatically remove them? Our membership cycle ends on December 31, so I'd like to make sure that non-renewing members don't have access to the e-Lists.

    Thanks!

(Ryan, my understanding is that they still show up on the list of e-list members, and they are still able to access the e-list archive via their profile page on the front end. The option to reply to a message or post a new one still shows up when I log in as a lapsed member; not sure if that message then gets rejected or if the e-list might allow it through.)

    New Q:
Is there a way to unsubscribe multiple people at once? I see the "Subscribe to E-List" under "actions" with the new profile list, but there's no *UN*subscribe option. (I thought I used an unsubscribe feature last time I removed a batch of old members, but it's entirely possible my brain made that up!)

Hey Jay. Thanks for the info. So just to make sure I totally understand this, when a member subscribed to an elist lapses, then the following happens without any admin action:

    • They DO NOT have access to the elist through their profile (including the previous emails, the list of members, etc.)
    • They DO appear on the list of members of the elist
    • They DO continue to receive the emails

Is that correct? If so, I think I'll send in feedback that that doesn't really make a whole lot of sense, at least in our situation. We use the elists as a perk of membership - if they continue to receive the notifications/emails, then they haven't really lost anything by lapsing, other than the ability to reply/contribute to the conversation. They can still reap all the benefits of the valuable conversation!

Hey there John! This option is not available in Oasis currently. If you haven't already, you should leave some feedback for our Product Team to consider.

Hi Maddy - it isn't currently possible to do an import to assign members to e-lists. It is possible, however, to mass subscribe members to an e-list if they have an attribute in their profile or something that makes them searchable, you can search, then tag profiles and click Actions to mass subscribe them to e-lists. You could create an attribute for this if needed, then do a data import to populate the attribute so that you can search on it.

Are lapsed members automatically blocked from participating in e-lists?  If not, what is the easiest way to remove them.

    Thanks, Sara

You can search for e-list conversations that contain certain words!

I'm not sure what sort of search function is used, e.g. if using quotation marks will search for words in order--e.g. does a search for "2018 Meeting" return all messages that include the phrase "2018 meeting", all messages containing both words, or all messages containing either word?

Hello Kimberly! No, they will not. Only those who are part of the E-list when a message goes out will receive it.

Sorry that they are not clickable- we often send links.

I also would like to know how an admin can delete an elist message or stop postings to a thread.

Hi crew: I saw earlier in this thread that e-list messages can't be deleted (since they are "out there" in inboxes), but can the email message in the message history of profiles be deleted? If so, how?

Are topics searchable in e-lists? For example, can a member or the ASA login and search topics to re-post? I find typically members ask the same question year after year so I want an easy to way to search previous topics and then re-share them.

We just transferred over to the new system and one of our members sent out the first email over the new e-list; however, one of the members subscribed had an out of office email that kept sending to everyone over and over again. I ended up deleting him from the list in order for it to stop but isn't there a best practice or a type of monitoring in case that happens again?
