What is it?
The Widgets tab allows ASAs or Admins to control the content of specific areas of your website without having to access the website's template. NOTE: Widgets must be set up by the MemberClicks Design Team. If you have questions about adding or editing a Widget, contact the Help Team.
How to Access
Widgets can be accessed and edited by navigating to Website > Widgets.
Advanced Website Designs, Widgets and other Dynamic Elements
How it Works
In general, design elements such as menus, widgets, and other dynamic elements which are included in the design will appear based on the menu item(s) to which they are assigned. For example, you may have an HTML widget which is only assigned to appear on the Community menu item. When a member logs in, his or her group landing page is set to be the Community menu item, so the widget appears on the right side of the page. The presence of the widget will be determined by the menu item(s) to which it is assigned. MemberClicks can set up the element to appear on the menu items you specify.
NOTE: Widgets and other advanced elements can only be assigned to menu items, they cannot be assigned to articles.
Let's take a closer look at the example above starting with the site Home page:
Note that the Home menu item is set to be the default for the entire website and that it displays a single article, no widgets in the right hand bar.
When you click on the About Us Menu item, in addition to displaying a single article in the main body of the page, the Featured Member, Most Popular and Sponsor Ads appears on the right side because it has been set to display on this menu.
Dynamic elements such as HTML widgets, most popular article listings, and members only menus are great ways to engage members and other site visitors. They can also be big time savers which reduce the need to create the same content on multiple pages.
Once a dynamic element has been created by the MemberClicks Design Team, it can be assigned to display on all menu items (in which case new menu items will automatically display the element) or on select menu items. If your element is set to display on select menu items, the Help Team will be happy to assign it to display on more menu items or remove it from existing menu items as needed.
