I like the improvements you outline. However, I want to emphasize that the list view is ideal from an administration point of view. You said the admin view will stay the same for now, which is great. When you do go to change it, I'd heartily recommend leaving the list view untouched (for admins).

Hi Ashley - thanks for the feedback!  We will be overhauling the admin side at some point in the future as well.  If you have any other ideas or suggestions, please add them here.

I'm looking forward to the new search results template. I loved the cards for members to see, but often had editing problems. Will there be a default layout set up when this is rolled out? We're in the middle of our busy time and may not have bandwidth to set up a new display template for a while.

Hey April - over the next 6 weeks or so, every site in the new CMS will have the Social Community features (including the new search layout) and we will be communicating to each organization directly with the exact date as we move along in the process.  When we do this, we'll actually be re-creating your existing search layout in the new system, so there won't be any immediate attention required on your part.  You can certainly go in after the fact to edit/add/etc. when you have time.

OK, this is pretty neat and the members will love it... but what happened to saved searches, AVS, and tagging individual profiles from the search results screen?

The new profiles seem ok so far, but instead of that tiny little pencil, I would really rather see an 'Edit' button back on the profiles. My members are mostly of an older generation and they are simply never going to notice that pencil. It's going to be hard enough to have to re-teach them how to edit their profiles since this was all changed without us having a choice. I know I could also instruct them to go to My Profile and select Edit Profile, but again, having a button right on the screen that says 'Edit' would be so much better.

Also, when you do edit the profile, after hitting Save, there is no confirmation that the information was saved or any button to return to the public's view of the profile to make sure it has saved. You have to go back and search for your profile all over again.

Just tested out the new advanced search - Love it. Great work, MemberClicks.

I agree with Robin - there should be a confirmation when the profile is saved.

I also agree with using the word 'Edit' rather than the pencil (or in addition to the pencil). I think my members will also have trouble with this.

Hi everyone, thanks for the great feedback!  I'll make sure these items are considered for upcoming enhancements.

I need help with this please.  I spoke with Tech support the other day and they confirmed for me that members shouldn't be given advanced search capability - HOWEVER, the only menu items related to search on the front-end that I can find all say "advanced search" and when I sign in as a member and try to click on them, I get thrown out to the log in page.

I set up this link in our original landing page and it still seems to work:  https://nystesol.memberclicks.net/index.php?option=com_community&view=profile&task=app&app=simpleSearch&userid=18976481, but once I am inside the site, I can't find anything to take me to this link.

What am I missing here?  I want my members to be able to find "people like you" and when we purchased this system, they could do that in the front end through this link.  HELP PLEASE!

    Jeanie,

I'm assuming you're not one of the minority of sites still running the "old CMS", right? I'm not sure what you discussed with MemebrClicks that would have made them say members shouldn't have access to Advanced Search on the front end; it's clearly built for that purpose, and I've used it since our launch on the MemberClicks platform. It sounds like there might have been some confusion between what you were asking and what MemberClicks was telling you. While there is a LOT of UI and functionality enhancements I'm hoping to see MemberClicks make (discussed in various other Enhancement Request threads), for what it can do, Advanced Search is perfectly functional for front-end users.

Are you familiar with the Menu Manager in the back-end? This is where you add and control access to menu functions. Under Database in the Menu Manager, you'll see Simple Search, Narrow Search and Advanced Search. (The first two are quite similar; I prefer Narrow over Simple because Narrow omits the Saved Search option at the bottom, and we have no globally-saved searches users can use, but your needs may be different.) Advanced Search is right there; add it as a menu or submenu and try it on your site -- or perhaps you're saying that it already exists. So your immediate next place to visit is the Permissions screen in Menu Manager, which is where you grant access permission to whichever group(s) you want to be able to see and use that search. On my site, for instance, we don't allow the public or unpaid members to search our directory; only people in our paid member group are given access to use both Narrow and Advanced Search. Others won't even see the Narrow Search or Advanced Search menu option.

Since going to your root URL of nystesol.memberclicks.net asks me to login, I can't see what's on your landing page or what menus or links you have in place. But if you've got this saved URL for a search which a not-logged-in user doesn't have permission to execute, perhaps that explains why your URL isn't working. Check your Menu Manager permissions to make sure the logged-in user you're testing is in a group which has access to the Advanced Search menu item -- it may be a simple checkbox click that will fix your problem.

Sorry if my attempt to help is too vague or misses the mark; I tried based on the limited information you provided. You should definitely get back with the MemberClicks Help Team, by writing a support ticket or calling them, to pursue this, because it definitely is possible (and relatively easy) to give users access to Advance Search in the front end.
