I'm unable to embed a video. I tried adding an s after http as well as removing and just keeping // to embed a vimeo video. The video box is showing but no video is able to be played. Updates?

    Hi Stephanie,

As there could be some extra communication needed regarding this issue, I am going to create a ticket for this. You should be hearing from us soon so that we can remedy this!

Can you embed a video in a contact center message when using one of the MC templates? I only have had success embedding the frame in just a plain (non-template/non-table) message -- it shows up in the preview, but not in the final email that makes it to my inbox.

We use a template for our biweekly newsletter and I would love to be able to embed a video in the pretty template email. Right now my workaround is pretty lame -- placing an image of the YouTube frame and linking the image to the video's url.

    Hi Kristin,

As you have discovered, a video cannot be embedded inside of a message from the contact center. It can only be placed within an article. How you have dealt with this so far is an excellent way to do so, even though it may not be your optimal setup.

Really disappointed to discover I cannot embed a video in a message in the contact center.

Chris, are there plans at Memberclicks to make videos embedable in contact center messages in the future? We had set video newsletter clips as a goal for this year, so it would be helpful to know if this functionality is coming in the future or if we should rethink that goal. Thanks!

    Hi Brad and Abby,

First off, thank you both for posting on the forum, as this is a excellent topic to discuss. As for potentially adding this function, there are no concrete plans to add the embedding of video within email. Though it is certainly an exciting development is concept, a large number of mail clients do not support the unrestricted viewing of videos within email. Apple Mail is an exception to this rule, but many other clients will only display a placeholder image in the video's stead, so the chances of a video working within an email are not guaranteed. As such, linking a thumbnail to a video is a more reliable option at this time.

If we do decide to include this function within our plans, rest assured that you should expect an update, by article most likely, that we are doing so!

Chris - is there a video content hosting platform that Memberclicks reccomends using over another (i.e. Yutube vs Vimeo)? One that works better than another one perhaps? We are debating on which to use and need some help.

Hi Ginger, both YouTube and Vimeo are solid products, so you won't have a reliability issue one way or the other. We actually use both: Vimeo for product training videos (hosted here in the Help Center) and YouTube for larger audience communications on best practices and industry insights (displayed on YouTube.com). We like Vimeo's access controls for embedding more than YouTube's, so your choice may depend on the type of videos you post and your target audience. Vimeo probably makes more sense for a members only section where YouTube might be better for a marketing piece. Hope this helps!

Can we use a password protected vimeo video on a members only page?  We want to host a webinar for members and they will need to register pay for the class.  The confirmation page will have the link to the video with the video password.  I think that is how it will work anyway. Thanks!

Jennifer - That sounds workable to me! Most of the videos I see clients embed in MemberClicks are not password protected, but I don't see why the scenario you've outlined wouldn't work. You could set up the page/video and run a test beforehand, just to make sure. Feel free to contact the Help Team as needed during the set up process!
