When building the new site we can link to either the menu or to the article.  If most of our content is based on single-page articles, which method is recommended?  What are the pros and cons?

Hi Jani - I'd recommend linking directly to the articles, although both would work just fine in most situations.  With parameter settings (global, article, menu item) you have the ability to have a single article display with different options - the navigation/menu button can have one set of options while the article itself can have another.  Then, depending on how the article is accessed, the appropriate options are displayed.  You can check out more on parameters here.

How can I save changes to an article without making the changes live?  I would like to be able to work in advance and later publish my changes. I thought this was a new capability in the new CMS but Save and Apply both publish the changes immediately.  I cannot do this in a different article or all our links will be broken, as far as I know.

    Hi Jani,

Correct, clicking save or apply will make the changes appear immediately on a live article.  The CMS allows you to schedule the publishing of an entire article, but there isn't a way to schedule specific changes to go live.

You should be able to copy the original article, make your edits in the copy, then, when you're ready, swap the content into the original article without breaking links.  The only time links would break is if you were to edit the aliases of articles to which you are linking.

Insert/Edit Link icon is often grayed out.  Why is this and how can I fix it?  Thanks.

Can I turn off the "Article Index" if I have an article that is divided by page breaks?  If so, how?

    Sorry for the late responses!

Michael - The "insert/edit link" button in the menu bar above the editor is available only after you enter text and highlight it.  Alternatively, the "site links" button below the editor window allows you to insert links to your other MemberClicks pages without having to first type out the text.

Helen - I'm not 100% sure what you're referring to - can you please submit a ticket to us with the details?

Is there a way not to display the time when setting the 'Created Date and Time' to show?

Hi Joseph - Currently date and time are tracked as one item, so unfortunately, there isn't a way to display only the date and not the time. Sorry about that!

Thanks Kinsey.  Something for a future update.  Why do some groups use date?  Maybe I am missing the point.

Joseph - I've worked with clients who use group in category list type layouts. Oftentimes category lists are used to organize newsletters, etc. where date may be more relevant. I hope this helps!
