I am the admin for our site now and over the last day I have received about 500 "E-List Rejected" emails telling me about some scam site that has attempted to send and email to the list serv.  Its good these are being blocked but the notifications are annoying and filling up my in box.  is there a way to turn off this notification?

is there a way to have non-moderated e-list members on a moderated e-list?  we have a core group that we would like to be able to send messages to our entire membership, but we don't want all the membership to have that capability.

    Hi Ryan,

Yes, you can certainly use an attribute to generate a list of members to subscribe all at once. To do this, you first want the attribute to be usable within the quick search, when can be enabled by editing the attribute. Second, you want what is going to be searched to be unique. If it is a word such as 'yes,' for example, every profile with the word 'yes' is going to be included within the list, so the attribute needs to be more specific. Once you have done the above steps, simply navigate to your E-list within E-List Management, click 'add members,' and then enter the attribute you want to search in the search box. It will then generate a list of all the members that have that as an attribute, at which point you can tag them all and add them simultaneously.

Hi, I am setting up a new 'listserv' for my association through memberclicks. In the welcome message, I'd like to tell them how to send a message to the list (that one is easy) and how to unsubscribe (that one I don't know). Can you help?

    Thanks!

    Hi Chris,

If you add your entire database to an E-List, which would be necessary for all of your members to receive the messages from that list, each member will have the ability to send out a message through that E-List. Limiting sending privileges to only a select few individuals on a specific E-List isn't possible at this time. However, with the moderation function enabled and you yourself the moderator, you could ensure that the only messages sent out would be those created by your approved members. These members could also be added as moderators as well.

If you have any further questions or need further explanation, feel free to send us a message at help@memberclicks.com, where we will be happy to assist!

Is there a way to bulk subscribe people to an elist based on an attribute? I know I can limit subscription based on an attribute, which I have done, but how do I initially subscribe people without having to add them one at a time?

Hi Mark - Each email generated via an e-list will have an Unsubscribe link in the footer of the message that users can click on to unsubscribe. You might also find this article helpful, as it covers e-lists from the member perspective.

we have an e-list all ready setup but wanted to know if the name and the name in front of the email address gets updated will that affect the emails that have all ready gone out.  example: External Engagement WG E-List changed to EEC E-List and the email address from ExtEngWG_E-List@nordp.memberclicks.net to EEC_E-List@nordp.memberclicks.net . Just want to make sure it doesn't mess with what has all ready been going on with this E-List.

    Thanks

I just noticed that we have about 30 ex-members who have expired and are now in the non-member "Basic Contact Profile" group, but are still subscribed to the Elist. Can they still send/receive messages?  I thought that people had to be in a "Custom Profile" group in order to be on an Elist and would get removed automatically when they moved to the Basic Contact Profile. (I know about the unsubscribe feature in the expiration settings but we didn't have that turned on previously)

How do we change the email address where the elist messages are sent?  We have had a change of personnel.  Thank you!

    Hi Richard,

I see that you wrote in a ticket on this same subject, so i am just going to continue our discussion there. Expect a message from me soon!

    Hi Helen,

Basic Contacts can actually indeed be a part of an E-List if they were at one point a regular member and were then moved to the basic contact group. The way to guarantee that they are removed would be to select the 'remove from e-lists' checkbox within the expiration settings so that when your expiration action kicks in, the user would be removed. Otherwise, they will have to be removed manually from the list. If you have any further questions on this, just let the help team know, and we'll be happy to assist you!

Is there a way to delete in batch those added to a E-List.  One of our membership chairs accidentally added a large number of people to an e-list and now we need to delete them.  Would be nice to have to do it one at a time.  it was the E-list: FASFAA Region V at 03/24/2014 03:34:37 PM.

    thanks

    Hi Meg,

Might you be referring to the administrative email set to the E-List, or the actual E-List address itself? You can change both of these by clicking edit next to the E-list in question once inside the E-List Management tab, at which point you will be able to change these under the fields "E-list address' and 'Administrative Email Address.'

Alternatively, if you are referring to an actual mailbox that is set to receive administrative messages, you can log into your Email Admin tab on on your Admin Home page to access that mailbox. While you will not be able to change the username of that address, (for example, the 'chris' in chris@memberclicks.com cannot be changed) you can create another mailbox for this purpose. To log into your Email Admin tab, simply type your organization's ID followed by the word 'admin' for the username, and then the ID followed by the word 'pass' for the password.

If you have further questions, just let us know!

When a profile is updated with a new email address, it appears that any eLists that member is subscribed to don't also get updated automatically.  I suppose if we manually enter an email address for a member, we can also go to the eList and update that manually, as well (although that's kind of a pain in the neck).  However, when we do a bulk upload to update our entire database, it is very possible that there could be changes to the email address associated with multiple members.  There's no way for us to know which of these profiles were updated, and obviously, we would not want to have to go back and manually update all of the eLists for them.  Also, if a member updates their own email...but don't go to to the eList section, they'll suddenly start getting omitted and may not even know it..  When we set up the eList, we identified which groups are to be subscribed... so wouldn't the eList pick up the current email in the profiles for those group members???  Help!

Yes, I know how to delete old messages. But we need to be able to delete more than one at a time. I will submit another request on the idea form. Thank you.

Can I set up an e-list that members will be automatically subscribed to if they opt-in via an attribute on their profile? For example, could an attribute be "Opt-in for the e-list?" and if they chose Yes, they'd be subscribed? Or do they have to be manually subscribed by an admin or themselves?

We had done some test emails when setting up the e-list. Now we are ready to go live, but I cannot delete the test emails. I can tag each message, but the only options are "Cancel" and "Approve" Neither of those delete the message.

I'm setting up an e-list for the first time. Are members allowed to set their level of subscription? For example, can they opt to receive a digest of the conversations that happened once a week or daily instead of as the emails come in?

Also, is there a way to tie membership and renewal dates to the e-list or would I need to manually remove inactive members who have expired profiles from the e-list manually?

    Thanks!

Please provide the option to delete messages without having to monitor the entire group. Not having the opportunity to do this as an Admin is not a good function. I'm sure most of your members do not have the time or staff to monitor all elist conversations.

We have just started to use the E List Management tool.  Is there a way to stop the emails from ending up in everyone's junk box?  We use it for our eNews, which people subscribe to, but we are still losing quite a few to junk mail.

E-List Management is actually in the Components menu, not the Database menu (maybe it changed after the instructions were written).

    Hi Denise,

Despite the name changes, your E-List messages that have already been sent out shouldn't be adversely affected in any way, so you needn't worry about changing your email names. You should be good to go!

I am trying to delete a message from an e-list. I followed the instructions above, but when I go into the message, I do not have a Delete button, only cancel and approve. I've tried tagging and canceling, but the message does not disappear. What am I missing?
