This article has information which can actually *corrupt* some data. If you follow the instructions to save as a .csv file and then re-open in Excel, Zip Code data which has been Formatted as Text in Excel and entered as "04517" will end up as "4517" when you re-open the Excel file! Be very careful, or your zip codes (for the northeast!) will be wrong in your MemberClicks database.

Addendum to my comment above: *if* you make the zip code five digits by formatting the cell (e.g. Format --> Cells --> Custom with a value like "00000"), it will work as suggested above. That is, in Excel, it will show 5 digits (and not mess up zip+4 or foreign postal codes) in a .csv file. But  *if* you do what I originally did -- adding actual leading zeros with a formula and formatting the cell as text -- then saving it as a .csv file will undo your hard work and leave you back with stripped number which can be less than 5 digits. There's more than one way to do things in Excel, and in this case, it makes all the difference in the world how you do it! Sorry if I confused the issue rather than helping to clarify.

Thanks Eric, I've updated the article above to reflect that.  I use a slightly different method selecting the "Zip Code" format listed under "Special", but it achieves the same thing.

Sure wish there was a way to save the field mapping!

If I am updating only a couple of fields for a few existing members, do I have to a) include all fields for those individuals even though I am only updating a couple of select fields, and b) must I include all members even though the changes only apply to a few members?

Hi Taylor - You only need to include the Attributes you're updating on the profiles you want to update. Feel free to exclude other Attributes and profiles that don't need updated!

Using import in the current version (not classic)  - how to I erase an attribute value - ie set it back to none?
