What is it?
Usernames must be unique. A specific username can only be attached to one profile at a time. This includes deleted profiles, as they can be restored, provided that they haven't been purged by a MemberClicks employee. If you delete a profile that is tied to a specific username and later want to give that username to an active, undeleted profile, you will need to locate the deleted profile and change the username.
How to access
To search for a deleted profile, go to Profile List->Click the Advanced Search By drop-down in the upper left-hand corner of the page->Choose the attribute option->Select the username attribute from the drop-down. Once you do, you'll want your screen to look similar to the screenshot below.
- This is where you choose to search for the username attribute. Enter the username you wish to search for in the last box in the row.
- To ensure your search results aren't accidentally limited, select all of the status options on this row. To search for deleted profiles, you must select the Delete profiles only option. This isn't considered a true status, more so a designation, so ensure you have all the other options checked as well, or you will receive no results.
- Once you've completed steps 1 and 2, click this button to run your search. Your result should be the single deleted profile attached to the username.
Once you've received your result, choose to view the profile. Once here, you'll be able to edit the username as needed (if you can't locate where to edit it, it's pictured in the screenshot below). Change it to something else so that the original username is no longer in use. You'll then be able to give the original username to a different profile.
To note: If you'd like to restore the deleted profile, rather than change its username, you can do so from within the profile. Click the undelete button shown in the screenshot below to undelete the profile.
